Tell me about yourself
This is usually asked in the beginning of the interview. You should plan for this question and practice the response with a 2 minutes time allowance. Too long answer can bore or lose the attention of the interviewer.
Example answers: For a candidate who has been inactive in the job market for some time
“I got the experience in working for profit and non-profit organizations basically on a project basis. Even though I was away from salaried jobs for quite some time, I have become very active in community-based projects that developed my skills in business tand made me more prepared for the business sector.
For a candidate who wants to change job
“I started as a marketing trainee of X Company and was tracking a career path there until I accepted a job offer from the Product Development Division. I am now applying for a position in your company because of their decision to move to another city.”
For someone who wants a career change
After graduating from ABC University with an economics degree I worked as a _____for DEF Company. Then I worked for GHI to work for _____ Division with specialization in _____. But I am here because they have reassessed their concern for this area and have closed that operation |
