"Body Art IS IN," says Isabella Ortega, 18. She has nine piercings on her face. First she got a nose ring. Then she got her tongue pierced. She couldn't stand to eat hot food for weeks after that. Next she got her cheeks, ears, chin and the bridge of her nose pierced. Isabella and her mother don't SEE EYE TO EYE about body art. Her mother GETS MAD AT her each time she wants more. Does Isabella HAVE SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT piercings? "AT TIMES, I do," she admits. "People STARE AT me, and I hate that." But she is already THINKING ABOUT her next piercing. "I wat four or five rings in my lips," she says.
1. What do you think about Isabella's body art? 2. How does her mother react when Isabella wants another piercing? 3. Is ISabella always completely happy with her body art? 4. What do people do when she goes out? 5. What is Isabella thinking about now?
